Residential Care at St Andrew's School aims to ensure both the emotional and physical well being of our students within the parameters of a 24 hour educational curriculum. Essentially the programmes delivered by care staff compliment the work of the day school staff as an integral part of this extended curriculum.
The provision caters for up to 12 students from year 8 to year 13. Students may be offered access to the Residential provision on either a part time ( Monday – Wednesday or Wednesday to Friday) basis or full time ( Monday – Friday ) placement . Placements are allocated after application forms are processed & approval is undertaken by a referral panel.
Each residential student has his/her own keyworker who holds responsibility for overseeing their Individual Education Plans and Care Plans. In addition they maintain ongoing communication with families, teachers and internal/external professionals designated to the young people in their care e.g. Therapists and/or other Medical Practitioners etc.
The students are encouraged to develop their own interests and are supported in this as far as possible. Care Staff organise a range of activities during out of school hours maximising the use of both on site and community facilities.
St Andrew's School has the only residential educational provision in Derby City and as such provides a unique learning platform for young people to be taught skills in context.
As the Residential Department operates outside of the normal school hours- Residential staff can be contacted through this form and a member of the team will get back to you as soon as possible. In case of an emergency, please call the Residential phone line. Tel: 01332 832746 ext. 1
